The Upper:
- Both the Vapor XI and the Superfly V went through major advancements by Nike from their previous models, most notably in their uppers
- The newly crafted boot used a full flyknit material throughout the upper, which was extremely lightweight and durable
- In addition to the flyknit, the upper had a woven cable like structure that created an elevated pattern throughout the entirety of the boots, providing not only a better touch and texture, but also a superior locked down fit.
- This is a CR7 exclusive colorway featuring the logo on the instep, and this colorway was used in much of the 2017 season by CR7
The Sole Plate:
- The Mercurial Vapor Superfly models are known for their ultra lightweight sole plates and cutting edge designs, with this being an exemplary design
- Nike used a one piece Nylon material that was very flexible and extremely durable, perhaps one of the most durable sole plates in the history of the Mercurial
- The new sole plate followed the foots anatomy, having parts of the sole plate raised to help with reducing pressure and strain
- The studs used a chevron design and the stud placement was strategically places to help with increased traction as well as helping with pressure of the sole
Notes and Comments:
- The Superfly V was a major change from the SUperfly IV model, using an incredibly well though out and unique upper pattern, unlike anything competitors were offering in 2017
- This colorway was most notably worn by CR7 in the 2017 Champions League final, that Real Madrid would win 4-1 with CR7 scoring a brace
- As the years have gone on, the Superfly V has been scarce, it seems Nike only produced them for a short period of time and there was very little excess stock
