Nike Mercurial 2 Black White R9 SG
Excellent used condition - the sole plate appears to be reglued or readhered. They feel very structurally sound, but see picture 4, it looks like the sole was removed at some point and reinforced with modern glue. I can not confirm exactly, but that is what appears.
The Upper:
- Throwing it back to 1999, Nike continued with the revolutionary KNG-100 upper design from the first generation Mercurial
- The lightest and most durable premium leather technology at the time, making the Mercurial the lightest boots ever made
- A stitching pattern throughout the entire upper made these boots super sleek and lightweight
- This is the second generation and second signature R9 edition Mercurial, featuring the R9 logo on the tongue
The Sole Plate:
- A hard plastic soleplate was used with super light materials, much lighter than anything on the market
- The SG sole palte from the 1998 and 1999 pairs were almost identical in structure, just a slightly different cosmetic approach
Notes and Comments:
- An incredible late 90s Nike piece of innovation, you won't see anything like this anywhere else.
- Famously seen worn by R9 while at Inter in the late 90's. This R9 model featured the short tongue, which differed from the original 98 R9 with the long tongue
