Nike Mercurial Vapor XI CR7 "Forged For Greatness" FG

The Upper:
- 8 years ago in 2017, Nike released the Vapor XI featuring a full Teijin synthetic upper and a newly designed ribbed pattern throughout the upper
- The upper used dozens of raised horizontal grooves that wrapped around the boot, providing added texture for better touch nad a more secure fit
- Nike continued with the "ACC" (All Conditions Control) coating that provided a consistent touch and feel in all weather conditions
- This colorway is a CR7 exclusive, as worn by Ronaldo in a large stretch of the 2017 season and this is the 18th colorway in the signature CR7 collection
The Sole Plate:
- The Mercurial Vapor models are known for their ultra lightweight sole plates and cutting edge designs, with this being an exemplary design
- Nike used a one piece Nylon material that was very flexible and extremely durable, perhaps one of the most durable sole plates in the history of the Mercurial
- The new sole plate followed the foots anatomy, having parts of the sole plate raised to help with reducing pressure and strain
- The studs used a chevron design and the stud placement was strategically places to help with increased traction as well as helping with pressure of the sole
Notes and Comments:
- The Vapor XI has to be one of the best Mercurial Vapors of the past 10 years, with an upper that was uniquely design and a completely revamped sole plate
- This colorway was most notably worn by CR7 in the 2017 Champions League final, that Real Madrid would win 4-1 with CR7 scoring a brace - this is the Vapor model, CR7 wore the Superfly mode, which is available here
- As the years have gone on, the Vapor XI has been scarce, it seems Nike only produced them for a short period of time and there was very little excess stock
